It’s been well over a month since I’ve posted anything. That’s because I haven’t done anything really interesting besides moving to Vietnam. I’ve been here for over a month and have settled into a relatively comfortable life.
My life can be summed up into three broad activities, none of which have been worthy of :
- Working – I’ve been working like crazy. I’ve gotten up to speed enough to be functional, but I haven’t had any moments in my 12-hour days to actually make improvements that will reduce the amount of work that needs to be done. I’m looking forward to spending some time finding ways to work smarter. On a bright note, at work I’m as close to inbox zero as I can conceivably be. On the other hand, at home I have 275 emails in my inbox mostly because I haven’t had the desire to add a 13th hour of emailing to my day.
- Eating – I have decided that I love Vietnamese food in almost all its forms. There’s also a huge number of good restaurants of almost every possible cuisine in Ho Chi Minh City. I’m always looking forward to my next meal.
- Playing Ultimate – I’ve played almost every Saturday and Sunday since I arrived. I’m desperate to find a way to play on weeknights because I hope to do a lot of travelling on the weekends.
Speaking of travelling on weekends, I’m sitting in Bankgok airport waiting for Joya’s flight to arrive. She’s flying Air Asia Indonesia, one of the better discount Indonesian carriers. Better because the planes generally arrive safely at their destination, but hardly ever on time.
Big shiny new buildings like this wing of the airport are creepy when they’re completely empty.
This is my second time in Bangkok, but my first occasion to explore the city. I’m pretty excited. Tom Yam soup, here I come.
